Darshan Thoogudeep (Kannada: ದರ್ಶನ್ ತೂಗುದೀಪ) popularly known as challenging star (ದರ್ಶನ್) is an actor and a film producer in the Kannada Film Industry. The son of a famous Kannada artist Thoogudeepa Srinivas and Meena Thoogudeepa, he had many struggles before becoming popular on screen, involving himself in a number of off-screen projects to reach his current status. He is often called the Challenging star by his fans.

Career

Darshan entered Cinema of Karnataka by doing a lead role in Majestic. He has acted in 40 movies to date. His biggest hits include Kalasipalya, Kariya, Datta, Gaja, amongst more. His latest Gajastayed 175 days at the box office recently. Kariya was one of the most popular movies of all time—it ran for more than 700 days in its second release. Gaja was the biggest Kannada box office hit of 2008. Darshan and Rakshita are considered a hit pair among the Kannada-movie goers. With consistent box office performance Darshan is considered one of the most dependable heroes in the industry. Darshan was blessed and supported by rebel star Ambarish during his initial days in the film industry. His 41st movie, directed by Naganna, is the historical drama Sangolli Rayannaand is the most expected movie of the year 2012

Personal life

Darshan has a brother named Dinakar Thoogudeep who is a director. Darshan belongs to Kuruba community and was married in 2004. He has a son named Vineesh.

He has a passion for animals, and is the only actor in the world who has his own zoo that is owned privately in the far east of Mysore, Karnataka. His home itself is like a zoo with many birds and animals.

Darshan’s other passion is cars: in July 2008 he bought a brand new Hummer H3, imported from Dubai which costed INR 1.5 Crore. It joins a Toyota Fortuner in his collection, and an Audi Q7 And Jaguar car (blue) which cost is 1,85,00,000 was gifted by his wife Vijayalakshmi for his 36th birthday.
