Personal life
Rishi Kapoor is married to actress of the seventies, Neetu Singh, although he initially wanted to marry Dimple Kapadia after filming the hit seventies movie Bobby. Kapadia refused, as her acting career had just began, a marriage would cause a halt in her career and both Kapoor and Kapadia were fairly young. Although a couple of months later Kapadia met Bollywood Superstar and Heartthrob of the sixties/seventies, Rajesh Khanna and married him. But, Kapadia and Khanna's marriage was not successful. After Kapoor's heartbreak, he continued to make hit films, many of which were with Neetu Singh. During this process they fell in love. Initially when Kapoor told his parent's that he wanted to marry Singh, they refused as well as Singh's parents. It is famously known that Kapoor went to Singh's house while he was sick and had a fever to go ask for Neetu Singh's hand in marriage. His determination was not gone unnoticed, and eventually both sides agreed. The couple tied the knot in 1981 after a highly publicized engagement. Kapoor was 29 at the time. Today Kapoor and Singh are happily married and have two children; Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahani. Rishi is the paternal uncle of today's actresses Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
